| Clarksville is both the name of an unincorporated community and the name associated with District 5 in Howard County. The community is named for William Clark, a farmer who owned much of the land on which the community now lies. Clarksville has the highest family income of any township in the county ($159,266) and is one of the most affluent towns in the US. It is unofficially considered the wealthiest town in Maryland, which is the fifth wealthiest state in the U.S. It is known for the politicians and some of America's wealthiest people that have homes in the area citation needed. |

What Makes Clarksville Unique?
- Top Schools - Clarksville is perhaps best known for its highly successful high school, River Hill. The school made the 397th rank on Newsweek's Top 1,200 High School River Hill, originally a tech-magnet school specializing in mathematics and electronics, became a regular high school in 2002. It has 1,652 students and ranks as one of the top schools in the state of Maryland. In 2005, River Hill has a 97.55% graduation rate, ranking the highest in Maryland. 86.3% of its students passed the HSA (High school Assessment)
- Hunter Crest - summer camps are a series of week-long horse training and riding offered from mid-June to early August running from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. Each weekly session is limited to 10 participants who ride in two groups of no more than 5 people per group. On Friday of each summer camps, Hunter Crest hosts a Horse Show for that week's students, so they can show their parents, family, and friends what they have learned.
- The Gathering Place - 3 story, brick construction new building. Three large meeting rooms which can seat 750, 250, or 125 people, and 8 rooms for meetings or classes. Majestic, glass entrance leads into fabulousl appointed reception area. Largest room has new, wooden dance floor, chandeliers, sconces, Powerpoint projector, both round and rectangular tables and cloth-covered chairs, full commercial kitchen, nursery and much, much more.
- National Blue Ribbon Award - Clarksville Middle School has also won the National Blue Ribbon Award.
